Dan's Saturday project was to see if he could clear up a pipe running from our house to the street. We discovered not long after we moved in that the gutter that runs down the left side of our front porch had a hole punched in the bottom of it--which we soon realized was probably due to the fact that the pipe underground (which the gutter runs into) was clogged. Here's the hole where Dan took off the old gutter.
Before we paid someone a lot of money to come out and take a look at it, Dan decided to see if he could clear it out himself. He rented a sewer snake and tried it from both ends--both at the house and also out at the street.
It got a lot cleared out, but unfortunately he hit a spot that was something more than debris or mud. Rocks? Roots? A collapsed pipe? We're not sure, but it's more than we're going to be able to take care of on our own. And so. . . we'll be calling someone in to check it out and keeping our fingers crossed that it's not extraordinarily expensive. Sigh. While Dan took care of that, I took care of the horror that was our front plants. They started out as pretty flowers over the summer but have looked like little more than weeds since the cold weather began. It was definitely time to cut them back!
I also did a LOT of raking. We haven't bothered raking the back yard since the leaves started falling (given all the leaves still waiting to fall, it seemed pointless), so I definitely had a big job ahead. I was super sore by the time that I got all this raked up!

Here are all the leaves all bagged up and ready for pick up (thankfully, Media will compost them)!
In addition to the outside projects, we got a few inside things taken care of. Check back later this week for more photos!
