Reunited (and It Feels So Good)

For weeks and weeks and weeks now, Dan and I have been missing our books. For the longest time, getting them out and unpacking them just wasn't an option given the fact that our house looked like it had been struck by a tornado with stuff everywhere. Once we finally got things cleared out and painted in the dining room, we moved the bookshelves in but weren't really happy with the way the color of the shelves looked with the walls.

We could have gotten different shelves, but that would have been an expense and also felt like a waste. The shelves we have are of the cheap, assemble-it-yourself variety from Target, so we figured we didn't have much to lose if we tried painting them!

With the bookshelves finally painted, we could now get to the fun part. . . unpacking our books! Taking them out of the boxes on Sunday night felt a bit like Christmas morning (in fact, we even had some Christmas music and warm apple cider to add to the festivity of the evening!).

And here are the books (on the newly painted bookshelves) in all their glory!

In this picture you can also see our newly purchased IKEA lamp and rug as well as an old tablecloth I found and put to use. Getting the dining room a little more finished is one of the top projects on my list for the next couple of weeks. For now, I think it's off to a pretty cozy start, and we're so happy to see our books on display again. To us, it feels like being reunited with old friends.
